Testifying to Congress on the biodiversity crisis

In May 2019, the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) released its of the forthcoming Global Assessment Report on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Service. I testified to the House Natural Resources Committee, Subcommittee on Water, Oceans, and Wildlife about the report and tied it explicitly to the U.S. Endangered Species Act, our nation’s best line of defense against extinction and the threats identified in the IPBES report.

Remote Defending: Community science

The COVID-19 pandemic has been incredibly challenging and tragic for the world. But for many people, the restrictions on being indoors has meant renewed interest in being out in the natural world. As part of Defenders' Remote Defending series, I talk about participating in community science through the annual City Nature Challenge. And I got to highlight Lark as a young naturalist!

Testifying to Congress on the need for increased conservation funding

The damage we have done and are doing to nature is almost unimaginable and the consequences are as dire for humanity as they are for wildlife. This and more is included in my testimony to House Committee on Appropriations on February 25th, 2020, starting at the 26 minute mark in this recording, and the full written testimony can be found here.
